Finishes & Care
Mattaliano is built from natural materials that age gracefully with a little care. The natural variation of wood, vellum, and stone is part of the piece — not a defect. Standard and premium finishes are noted on each tear sheet; one finish sample is provided on request.
The finish palette
Oak & Walnut
Solid hardwood frames and surfaces in standard oak and walnut, hand-finished to order.
Vellum
Natural goatskin panels, lacquer-sealed — each one varied in color and character.
Cast Bronze
Cast and hand-finished bronze for bases, pulls, and structural detail.
Gold Leaf
Delicate hand-applied gold-leaf finishes for lighting and accent pieces.
Blackened Metal
Blackened wrought metal, hand-worked for depth and a low, quiet sheen.
Stone
Natural stone tops — honed black granite and specialty stones — each unique in tone and marking.
Premium and custom finishes are available on request, with a minimum 10% upcharge and, in some cases, extended lead times.
Caring for your piece
Wood Finishes
Dust and clean with a cloth dampened in a mild detergent or cleaning polish. Avoid ammonia-based products and silicone oils, which can damage the finish over time. The finish resists most household spills, but wipe spills promptly. Keep pieces out of prolonged direct sun, high heat, and high humidity.
Vellum Panels
Vellum is a natural goatskin, sealed with lacquer, so color and character vary panel to panel. Clean with a soft damp cloth; clear Briwax paste wax cleans and adds a subtle sheen. Keep vellum out of direct sunlight and heat, which accelerate natural darkening.
Gold Leaf
Dust lightly with a dry soft cloth or feather duster. Use no cleaning solutions, and never buff or rub the surface. Gold leaf is delicate — handle with care when moving, ideally wearing soft gloves.
Blackened Wrought Metal
Dust lightly with a dry soft cloth or feather duster; apply no liquid cleaners. For small spots of rust, rub gently with fine steel wool, apply a clear paste wax, and buff with a soft cloth.
Stone
Stone varies naturally in tone, color, and marking. Blot spills immediately with a soft cloth to prevent staining. A daily cleaner with protector is recommended for stone tops; acetone lifts fingerprints from honed black granite.
To the trade
Terms & Conditions
Mattaliano is sold to the trade only. Designers, architects, and purchasing agents can specify the collection nationwide through our representative showrooms, at designer-net wholesale pricing, FOB factory dock.
Ordering
A 50% deposit activates an order; the balance is due in full upon completion, before shipping. Upholstery enters production once all COM/COL and finish specifications are received.
Pricing
Prices are quoted designer-net wholesale, FOB factory dock, to the trade only. Packing, freight, insurance, and sales tax are not included and are the purchaser's responsibility. Prices are subject to change without notice.
Warranty
Mattaliano furniture and accessories are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from delivery. The warranty excludes COM/COL, and damage from shipping, accident, alteration, misuse, or ordinary wear.
Cancellations
A 25% cancellation fee may apply to standard line items before delivery; custom pieces cannot be cancelled once production begins. A $250 minimum administrative fee applies to all cancelled orders.
Shipping
Shipping is the client's responsibility. Mattaliano can arrange shipping at the purchaser's expense on request but is not responsible for third-party damage or delay. Charges are billed on the final invoice.
COM / COL
Fabric requirements assume 54" wide, plain material; advise any variation in width or repeat before ordering. Leather application carries a 10% upcharge (5% for a contrast leather welt). Mark all COM/COL with showroom, designer, client, and item, and ship to the Chicago address.
Storage
Completed orders are stored free for 30 days after completion. Beyond 30 days, storage is billed at $5.00 per piece, per day.
Dimensions
Listed dimensions are given to the nearest half inch. Because every piece is handmade and assembled to order, actual measurements may vary slightly.
